The Women's Business Center was established in 2014 and is hosted by JEDI, a 501c3 non-profit organization, whose mission is to increase the economic well-being of people and communities through business development and local wealth creation. Since 1997, JEDI has served over 9,500 clients who after coming to JEDI started more than 1,000 businesses, accessed at least $10.3 million in business capital with 1,000 loans/grants/equity investments, and created and retained 2,612 jobs for the owners and others. We are funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and supported by the SBA’s Office of Women’s Business Ownership.
Women’s Business Centers (WBCs) represent a national network of over 100 educational centers throughout the United States and its territories, which are designed to assist women in starting and growing small businesses and the WBC at JEDI sits on the steering committee for the California Women’s Business Center Network. WBCs seek to “level the playing field” for women entrepreneurs, who still face unique obstacles in the business world.
